[00:00:33] Angela: Hello, podcast friends, welcome to thank you for joining me. Since this is the first episode I wanted to share a little bit about what this podcast is about, what you can expect from the podcast, and also a little bit about me, so you can get to know me a little bit.
Who this podcast is for
[00:00:49] Angela: This podcast is for any podcaster, whether you're just starting, even if you haven't started yet, even if it's just an idea, still kind of just sitting in your head right now and you just haven't taken the next step. And it's also for somebody like me, who's been podcasting for a while and just wants some community, you know, just wants, to hear what other people are going through, how they're working through the process, what their systems are, things like that. Because when you first start podcasting, you know, the important things are the basics, your microphone, your podcast host, editing software, how do you edit all that kind of stuff.
What you can expect from episodes
[00:01:28] Angela: And then once you kind of get over all those hurdles, then you kind of go into the next thing
where you run into some interesting things that we're going to talk about in the next episode, by the way, so I'm not going to go too much into that, but as you do more and more episodes, you come across things that you didn't think about or you didn't realize.
And so I want to share that because sometimes podcasting can feel like a lonely space if you're doing a solo podcast and I feel like processes and systems and mindset, especially can stop you. So I want to help people kind of push through those hard times, share what some of the realities are in podcasting and also connect with other podcasters.
[00:02:10] Angela: I'm mainly going to do solo episodes on this podcast and they'll be fairly short, you know, definitely less than 20 minutes, but maybe like, closer to 15 and every now and again. I'm going to invite some of my podcast friends, some that I've known for a while and some that I just met to join me on the podcast and talk about their experience podcasting what works for them, what, tech they're using, what some of their favorite tools are, you know, things that, so many of us who start podcasting, we've never done it before. And for me personally, I just did a lot of Google searches and a lot of YouTube, uh, videos. and try to figure out what I was doing basically and I think a lot of people do that so there's a lot under the umbrella of you don't know what you don't know and as you go along and you bounce off Of other podcasters you learn from them So I definitely want to have that space too where we talk about the process and learn from each other along the way.
About me
[00:03:11] Angela: And the reason that's important to me is because before I was podcasting, I was mainly doing a lot of screenwriting. That is what I want to do. That's what I still want to do, to be honest.
And going to screenwriting conferences was A great thing for me, you know, it was, great to sit in a space and listen to your favorite writers, talk about their process and tell funny stories. And you just, you just learned so much. And that really sparked the vibe for this podcast of, you know, what if this could be not just the nuts and bolts of podcasting, not just the tech stuff, but also the mindset, the process.
All that good stuff.
[00:03:50] Angela: Now I started podcasting in 2020.
And there's a longer story to this, which I'll share another time. But at this point I'm going into my fifth year of podcasting. I have a podcast called the gay podcast for everyone. I'll put the link to that in the show notes. If anybody's interested, it's a podcast for my LGBTQ plus community and our friends and our family and allies to come together in conversation and learn from one another.
Honestly, kind of the same thing we're doing here. And just under the podcast topic,
I work full time. So I do my podcast outside of my work. I have my partner and my dog who is basically our child.
So that's also another thing, you know, if you're, wondering how you can fit this into your world, I mean, I'm not going to lie. It's a little challenging. It really is, but for a long time, and I mean most of the last 5 years I was podcasting, I felt like I was the only person who worked full time trying to podcast.
In the last year I have found so many people thanks to finding different podcasting communities and I'll touch on that on the next episode but I have found so many people who work full time and Pursue their podcast outside of that.
So it's very motivating you can do it. It is challenging, but you can do it.
And that being said, I've learned a lot along the way, so I want this space to be a space where I can share that. And whether you're just starting your podcast or you're well into your podcast, I hope that this podcast, feels like a friend. You can bounce off of, a friend you can lean on and learn from.
And along the way, if you have a question, whether it's about tech stuff or editing or whatever your podcast challenge is. There's a text option in the show notes.
So please feel free to reach out and I can talk about it here on the podcast.
I'm so glad you're here. Thank you so much for joining me for this podcast. Please subscribe to the podcast and share it with a friend. It helps this podcast grow and I would really appreciate it. Thank you again, y'all. Until next time.
